UK-based energy service provider Expro Group has been awarded a long-term generation solutions contract with Eni Congo, a subsidiary of major Italian energy group Eni, for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) pre-treatment facility in Congo.

    Under the 10-year contract, worth more than $300 million, Expro will design, build, operate and maintain an accelerated onshore LNG pre-treatment (OPT) facility, as part of the Marine XII development at off the Congo.

    The facility will be built near the Litchendjili gas plant, which supplies the Congo Power Plant (CEC) near Pointe-Noire, and will significantly increase LNG production from the West African zone. .

    The facility is designed to allow additional gas generation for low carbon electricity generation. It will be connected to Eni Congo’s Floating Offshore LNG (FLNG) operations, supporting both the local energy market and increasing global demand for LNG to support a secure energy supply, Expro explained.

    The OPT facility is designed to process approximately 80 million cubic feet of gas per day.
