New TV broadcast technology launched Thursday in Boston

    Many Boston-area broadcasters, including WCVB Channel 5, will begin making a new signal available to viewers beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday. Over time, this new signal, called NextGen TV, will deliver ultra-high 4K quality – definition video, improved sound quality and other features that will enhance your viewing experience. In order to view this new free live signal from WCVB, your TV must be equipped with a NextGen compatible antenna. For viewers currently watching with an antenna, you don’t have to do anything to continue receiving the signal you see today. The only local station that may require rescanning is WUNI Univision.
