ITVX is ITV’s new streaming platform, replacing ITV Hub.
It launched in early December and, according to the broadcaster, offers “a new and improved product experience”.
The platform allows viewers to follow ITV shows, such as Prince Harry’s explosive interview with Tom Bradby and exclusive series like A spy among friends.
But when will it be available on Sky? Here’s everything you need to know.
How can I get ITVX?
ITVX is available to anyone using a smart TV, laptop, phone, tablet or streaming device on which the ITVX app has been downloaded. The app is available on Apple and Android app stores.
The streaming platform has gradually rolled out ITVX to various devices including Freeview Play devices, streaming sticks like Roku, some smart TVs, new Freesat boxes, Sky Glass and Sky Stream.
As far as Freeview is concerned, ITVX is not on a specific channel, but is available on your TV in the same way that ITV Hub was available to Freeview viewers.
For customers with supported Freeview Play devices, their ITV Hub app should automatically become ITVX, without having to manually download a new app.
How to create an ITVX account?
You can get ITVX for free by signing up for an account, just like you would for the ITV hub.
To register, go to the ITV website, then click on the ‘Login’ button at the top of the page, then choose ‘Register Now’. Fill in your details and choose your password and you are good to go.
If you want to register via an iOS or Android mobile device, go to the “My ITV” section of the app and press “Login”. You will then have the option to “Register Now”. Fill in your details, choose a password and you are good to go.
Viewers can stream programs with ads for free. However, if you want to watch ad-free programs or download shows to watch offline, you need to subscribe to a premium service.
Right now there’s a seven-day free trial offer, after which it costs £5.99 per month or £59.99 per year. Subscribers will also have access to BritBox. You can find more information about the subscription here.
Can you get ITVX on Sky Q?
At present, ITVX is only available on Sky Glass and Sky Stream – you can’t access it through a Sky Q box yet.
Those with Glass or Stream should have seen their ITV Hub app switch to the new ITVX service.
A statement on Sky’s website simply states that ITVX will be available on Sky Q “soon”.
What is available to watch on the ITVX app?
ITV says the platform offers more free new shows than anywhere else, with over 10,000 hours of free programming available.
It also announced that it would air much of its new content on ITVX six to nine months before it airs on its traditional TV channels.
Dame Carolyn McCall, ITV’s chief executive, promised a ‘simplified and seamless experience’ over the ITV hub.
As well as more than 250 films, including the Back to the future and Despicable Me trilogies, there will be 200 recent and classic TV series available.
New content premiering on the service includes Cold War drama A spy among friends with Damian Lewis and Guy Pearce, Sara Collins’ bestseller The Confessions of Frannie Langtonand black comedy-drama, Tell me everything.
There will also be a special feature film finale to the hugely popular comedy series Plebs: Soldiers of Rome as well as Vicky McClure’s psychological thriller Without sin and Russell T. Davies Nollywith Helena Bonham Carter.
family drama, Wealth, with Deborah Ayorinde and Hugh Quarshie, and the famous natural history documentary, A year on planet earthpresented by Stephen Fry, are also launched on the platform. Each week, “at least one flagship show” will be available on the service, such as Litvinenkowith David Tennant and Mark Bonnar, launching Thursday, December 15.
